Originally from the UK, Matt has been part of the South Island tourism sector for the past 20 years. He started out in the ski industry in Queenstown before qualifying as a pilot and sharing the incredible sights of Milford Sound with many locals and visitors from around the world.
He then made the move to Lake Tekapo, where he continued flying scenic tours around Aoraki Mount Cook, New Zealand’s highest mountain. These days, Tekapo is home for Matt and his family, and he’s still enjoying everything this spectacular part of the country has to offer.
In 2026, Matt founded Tekapo Bus, launching a new daily service connecting Lake Tekapo with Christchurch International Airport and creating a more convenient, reliable way for locals and tourists to travel between the two destinations while making the journey part of the experience.
Built by someone who knows the Mackenzie inside and out, Tekapo Bus is based on local knowledge, local connections, and a genuine love for this place.
