Behaviour policy.

This policy forms part of our Terms and Conditions. By purchasing a ticket and travelling on our services, you agree to comply with the standards below.

01Required behaviour

The customer agrees to:

  • behave in a reasonable, sensible and lawful manner on a bus and at any pick-up/drop-off point;
  • comply with any request or instructions from any driver of a bus or any Tekapo Bus representative; and
  • use mobile phones and other electronic devices considerately on all buses.

02Prohibited behaviour

The customer shall not:

  • behave in a way that is, or is perceived to be, abusive or threatening to any person or otherwise in a disorderly way;
  • conduct themselves in a way which may endanger themselves or another person;
  • obstruct or interfere with any driver or other crew on a bus, or any Tekapo Bus representative, in the performance of their duties or fail to comply with their instructions;
  • behave in a manner which causes discomfort, inconvenience, danger, damage or injury to any other person or to property on board any bus or to any bus;
  • obstruct or allow any of their luggage to obstruct any aisle or emergency exit on any bus;
  • play any music players, musical instruments or electronic devices that are audible and distracting or annoying to any person on any bus, or which interfere with, or render less audible, any public address system or other equipment;
  • take onto any bus any alcoholic drinks or drugs (other than medicines) for the purpose of consuming them, or consume them on any bus;
  • board any bus whilst under the influence of alcoholic drinks or drugs (other than medicines);
  • smoke (including substitute smoking materials such as electronic cigarettes or vapes) onboard any bus;
  • board any bus whilst seriously ill or suffering from any serious contagious illness; or
  • commit a criminal offence whilst using the services.

03Regulated behaviour

The customer agrees to comply with the following:

Food and drink

Customers may bring their own drinks (with a lid) and cold food. For the safety and comfort of all customers, no alcohol or hot food is permitted on Tekapo Bus services.

Rubbish

Customers must take their rubbish with them when they leave the service.

Filming

Customers shall not, without Tekapo Bus’ prior written consent, film on any bus operated or managed by Tekapo Bus for commercial or professional purposes. Filming for personal or private purposes is permitted provided that it does not cause, and is not likely to cause, distress or alarm to any driver, Tekapo Bus representative or any other customer. Tekapo Bus’ drivers and representatives are entitled to determine if any filming is causing, or is likely to cause, such distress or alarm - and the customer must stop filming if asked to do so.

04Consequences of a breach

If a customer fails to comply with this policy, Tekapo Bus is entitled to take any of the following actions at their sole discretion, including but not limited to:

  • restraining the customer;
  • removing the customer from the service;
  • refusing to continue with a service for the customer;
  • cancelling a customer’s ticket without refund; and
  • any other action that Tekapo Bus considers necessary, including to involve law enforcement.

Tekapo Bus may refuse a customer a service, either on a one-off or permanent basis, if that customer has been in breach of this policy.

Tekapo Bus shall not be liable for any loss caused as a result of a customer’s breach of this policy.
